Congratulations to Mike Dunn of Riverside for winning Bike of the Month with his 1937 Zundapp KS500. Mike won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.
This was Mike's second time winning Bike of the Month. He won back in
March 2010 with his 1939 Indian Sport Scout. Mike is the owner of Vintage German Motorcycles in Riverside specializing in 1930-1945 motorcycles. Visit his site: www.VintageGermanMotorcycles.com
Mike has owned the rare bike for 6 months. He say's that it's one of two known KS500 models in the USA. This model has dual carbs.
This model also has an Automatic Shifter. Controlled by either a foot pedal or a hand shifter, the gear is selected
Automatically when the lever is moved in a single direction.
Although the Zundapp has a similar design to BMW, the two bikes share nothing in common. Both brands competed for Germany's military duties.
Zundapp was founded in 1917. After WWII they focused more on lightweight motorycles and mopeds until the company folded in 1984.
Thanks Mike for bringing this rare bike to our meet. View all the photos in our June Gallery.
