VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was another perfect day in Huntington Beach. The sun was shining bright and the bikes were out in force. My official count was 45 bikes, give or take, close to a record. So many cool bikes, so little time...

I rolled in a few minutes after 2:00 and there were already more than ten bikes in the lot. I knew then that it was going to be a great meet.

The first bike to gather some attention was a nice 1969 Honda 350. I didn't get many details on that bike because the owner left early. It was in the running for Bike of the Month until Scott DaPron rode in on his 1919 Indian Powerplus.

Scott stole the show with his 1919 Indian and his Metropolitan Motorcycle Racing Ass'n full length coat, turn of the century helmet, goggles, motorcycling pants and boots. It's obvious that Scott spends many, many hours polishing this gem, or doing something... Scott brought the ol' girl all the way from Prescott Arizona for our meet. Even if he hadn't gotten the vote, I was going to give him a prize for the longest distance travelled, but Scott won easily it was the crowd favorite.

Once again, it was a great meet. Thanks to all of you who came out and making it great. I'm already looking forward to our meet on September 13, 2009. Mark your calendars.
