Congratulations to Randy Ressell of Westminster for winning Bike of the Month with his 1965 Triumph Dual Sport 500.
Randy won a gift certificate for a Hamburger Combo provided by Mr. Pete's Grill.
Randy didn't wake up this morning with thoughts of entering his bike in any contest. He trucked it up to Palmdale for the BSA Owners Club's Dual Sport ride only to be rained out.
On his way home he thought he'd drop by to check out the meet. We convinced him to pull it off his truck and enter the contest.
The hand built 1966 Cheney Chrome Moly frame stole the show, mud and all. This frame makes the bike quite unique. It's serial number is #26.
Randy has owned this bike for a year. It was originally from Massachusetts where it was stored for 40 years. Randy rebuilt the transmission and clutch and has taken it on four BSA club rides.
The custom lighting system is also equipped with a switch on the tail light that Randy installed to save his battery life on off-road rides. Detailed photos are in the gallery.
It's probably the muddiest bike ever to win Bike of the Month, but it shows that our members can spot a rare find.
Thanks Randy for bringing it to our meet. See all the photos in our January Gallery.
