Congratulations to Dennis Blenn of Long Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1952 BMW R67/2. Dennis won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers.
Dennis has been coming to our meet for the past few months, but is no stranger to motorcycles. He bought his first Harley at the age of 12, and kept it hidden from his father for several months. When he found out, his father forced the Dealership to take the bike back and refund his money.
Starting in the mid 1960's he owned several motorycle dealerships in North Conway, New Hampshire selling Yamaha, BSA, Hodaka, Triumph, Benelli and Bridgestone brands.
The R67 was bought new by his father in 1952 and was handed down to Dennis. In 1965 Dennis built the chopper for his girlfriend who wanted a low seat height light weight bike to ride. The bike is now a memorial to both of them.
The custom paint job is 13 coats of hand rubbed laquer. Appearently it had a little more shine in 1965, today it has a 48 year old patina that looks rode hard and put away wet...
In the early 1980's Dennis brought the bike out west and rode it for a few years off and on until it went into storage. Fast forward 2013, Dennis "rediscovered" it in storage and pulled it out to get it up and running. After 5 months he finally got it running to bring it to the meet.
Thanks Dennis for bringing your unique BMW to our meet. View all the photos in our October Gallery.
