Congratulations to Greg McBride of Midway City for winning Bike of the Month with his 1955 Vincent Black Prince. Greg won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.
This was Greg's second time winning Bike of the Month. He won back in
December 2012 with his 1948 Vincent Black Shadow. Greg would have won in May 2012 with his "Rollie Free Tribute" bike, but he left before the votes were counted.
Greg has owned this Black Prince for 13 years. It is one of 118 manufactured in the last year of the Vincent motorcycle company. It was designed to be a gentleman's motorcycle with all the mechanical parts covered. The fairings were designed to keep the rain off the rider.
Like a beautiful girl in an ugly dress, it looks pretty good when you lift the bonnet. The mono shock suspension looks like a modern rear end, but was actually designed by Vincent in the 1920's.
Greg is the third owner. The original owner had it stored for twenty years and took ten years to restore it. The second owner purchased the bike more for the UK registration numbers than the bike itself. Greg bought the bike in the UK and had it shipped here.
Thanks Greg for bringing this unique and rare bike to our meet. View all the photos in our July Gallery.
