June Vintage Bike OC Meet
Honda Trail 175

Huntington Beach, Calif. - What a great afternoon, I showed up at 1:30 to set up and there were already 22 bikes in the lot, by 2:00 there were 36 and by the end there were 73. A post-pandemic record. We had a lot of cool bikes today. Seven bikes got significant votes, and it ended in a (correction) tie for second place.

Bike of the Month - Ernesto Quiroga
Ernesto Quiroga of Long Beach with his 1975 Moto Martini 3 1/2
Vanessa of Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorney's and Ernesto Quiroga.

Congratulations to Ernesto Quiroga of Long Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1975 Moto Martini 3 1/2.

Ernesto won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

Ernesto has won Bike of the Month five times since November 2007. He won at the forth meet that I ran. Nearly every time Ernesto shows up, he brings a winner.

Ernesto's Past Winnings:
September 2021 1968 Ducati 350 Desmo Mark 3
November 2018 1988 Laverda SFC 1000
May 2009 1961 Ducati 175 Sport
December 2007 1961 Aermacchi C 250cc
November 2007 1972 Ducati Desmo 450 SS

Second Place Tie - Jeff McCoy
Jeff McCoy of Huntington Beach with his 1973 Triumph T100R
Jeff McCoy of Huntington Beach tied for Second place with his 1973 Triumph T100R.

Jeff has owned this Triumph for a long time, but he just finished the restoration. On any other day it would have been the winner.

He has been coming to the meet longer than I've been running it. He always brings something special, but rarely sticks around long enough to win. On three occasions in the past, he did stay long enough.

Jeff's Past Winnings:
June 2021 1930 Scott Flying Squirrel
November 2020 1975 Norton Commando 850
February 2019 1950 Norton ES2

Second Place Tie - Kenny Osberg
Kenny Osberg of Fullerton with his 1965 Honda S65
Kenny Osberg of Fullerton tied for Second place with his 1965 Honda S65.

This was Kenny's first time to the meet, and being up against these other three heavy hitters is no easy task.

Kenny, who retired from Kawasaki, decided to bring his restored Honda. He has owned the bike for 12 years and is the second owner. He did the restoration. I hope Kenny will come back for more.

*** CORRECTION ***
Grant Lappe was a Previous Bike of the Month Winner
Grant Lappe of Huntington Beach with his 1975 Honda Trail 75
Grant Lappe of Huntington Beach with his 1975 Honda Trail 75.

I announced at the meet, that it was a three-way tie for Second Place. What I'd missed, and we all forgot, was that Grant had won Bike of the Month back in July 2011, with this "Thing".

I usually remember these things, or check my database, but in my defense, this was the 171st Bike of the Month contest and it was 10 years ago. Back in 2011 we didn't have awards so Grant probably honestly forgot he had won.

Read all about it here: July 2011 1975 Honda Trail 75

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to John Zindler for helping out with the voting today.

Keep On Ridin',
